Because all documentaries have to be high drama, it's naturally a little hilarious when they present the incremental and yet astonishing progress that scientists have made. I'm watching a Nova PBS documentary called Black Hole Apocalypse, because of course they have to put the word apocalypse in it and because the writers decided to inject as much ominous drama into every narrative, funny moments start emerging:

Narrator: It originated fifty years ago, when a few visionary scientists imagined a technology that had not been invented. Searching for something no one is for certain can be found, the experiment is daring and risky. Failure could mark their lives forever. But they don't fail. Right here, in these facilities, they make a remarkable discovery! In the early hours of September 14, 2015 they record a message.

Message: ..............Bwooooop!

It's just fucking grand now that a paid subscription means they'll stop harassing you to give them money. It's not even ads for other things in my weather app, just endless full page reminders that they'll leave me the fuck alone for a set amount of time if I give them money.

This place is corrupted and it corrupts. I take a break for years and act like a responsible adult and then I come back, and what happens? I stay up until nearly 1 am in a chatroom talking about butts, marshmallows, best horror movies, and worst regional foods. I have work today, damn you hilarious people!!!
